Healing Power from Herbs & Plants

Gullah people have sustained themselves from the land of the Lowcountry and beyond for centuries using time-tested herbal remedies for maladies as simple as cold and cough to much more serious ailments like diabetes and high blood pressure. In this interactive lecture, expert Herbalist Jamillah Miller will share the dos and don'ts of herbal medicine.

Pop Up Porch Gallery with Tosh Fomby

Tosh Fomby is a Georgia-born visual artist whose vibrant paintings, printmaking, and animation explore the unique contours of Gullah-Geechee life, history, and culture. Her work is deeply rooted in nostalgia, memory, and representation—blending personal storytelling with broader social narratives.

Tide to the Land Community Water Stewardship Day

This interactive, action-packed activity event includes a book talk and book signing by author, actor, and singer, Ron, Daise, storytelling by local maritime workers, hands-on explorations and excursions, an oyster roast and a special seafood cuisine tasting with celebrity chef, BJ Dennis. This will absolutely be a day to learn, enjoy, and remember.

Tide to the Land Student Activity Day

Students from surrounding area will come for a hands-on learning experience related to maritime life and work in the Gullah-Geechee corridor. Attendees will learn about the science and social studies lessons related to the unique professions and culture that residents and visitors enjoy and allows many to make a living on the local waterways.

Watch Night Service

Watchnight services are late-night Christian church gatherings held on New Year's Eve. They allow Christians to review the past year, make confessions, and prepare for the upcoming year through prayer and resolution-making. This event will be held in partnership and on the campus of the Campbell Chapel AME Church.
